“What should we do with her?” Ellie sighed. “Maybe send her away to camp until she learns? I mean, we’ve tried everything, punishments, rewards, love. She is our daughter, but she is getting really difficult to handle.” John replied. They were talking about their daughter Lydia. She had short brown hair, pale skin, and was about four feet tall. The little nine-year-old was sour and bratty about almost everything, disobeyed at every possible chance, and as a result, had zero friends.
Lydia overheard the conversation. “Get rid of me eh?” she thought to herself. “You can’t do that if I’m already gone!” She scampered off to her bedroom, waited until midnight and snuck through the window carrying only the clothes on her back, a precious family quilt, and a bag of sweets she nabbed from the pantry.

Sunlight filtered through the trees. A Poochyena had gotten up early to find the best berries to scarf and map out the Rattata dens before they woke. The little dog was squeezing through a bush when he saw an odd-looking multi colored piece of bark. Upon further inspection, he found the bark to be soft and cushy, like a warm blanket. He could take this back to the den and show Mum! She’d be so proud of him!

The dark pooch started to tug at the bark, and it gave easily. To his surprise, there was a little human underneath!

Lydia had a rude awakening. Her blanket was pulled off her as a chill breeze blew over. She angrily sat up and was met with a wet dog snout in her face. Lydia jerked back and saw a Poochyena that came with the snout, holding her quilt in its mouth.
Lydia shrieked in surprise and slapped the canine across the face as hard as she could. The pokemon yelped and took off, leaving the blanket behind.

“That'll show that mutt not to mess with me,” She growled and stood up. Her bag of candy was gone, “Probably stolen by filthy creatures over the night.”
Lydia wasn’t about to go begging. She had too much pride to do something like that. Instead, she snuck into houses when the owner was away, and took everything she could get a hold of. She came upon a strange looking house, sort of like a small stone castle. “Perfect”, she thought. “There’s got to be plenty of loot in here.”

Percy heard a shuffling around his house. Unusual, visitors were hardly seen here. Humans, anyway. The warlock tried to get up, but there was a Glameow on his lap. The cat wasn’t heavy, but it takes a lot of will power to remove a lap animal. Percy slowly edged his hands under the pokemon, careful not to wake her up, stood, and put her back onto the chair. With that done, Percy shuffled through his mess of books and tomes scattered about, and made his way to one of the turrets on his home. As he peered out, he saw a little girl creeping around the back of his house.
There was no way to tell if anyone was home, as the windows weren’t on the ground floor. Lydia decided to take a risk and go inside.

It seemed much bigger on the inside. It wasn’t, but it just looked like it with the towering bookshelves. Strangely, there were also all sorts of skyways and ladders that interconnected with each other to form a sort of play area. It looked like it was for medium- small pokemon, though.
“Ugh, not another animal lover,” Lydia grunted disgustedly. She kept making her way through the maze of papers and furniture.

She had finally made it to what looked like the living room, but there where tubes leading out of the walls from the previous area and lots of toys and small beds everywhere. Tiptoeing around the mess, Lydia  made her way to the next room. “This had better be the kitchen,” she thought.
*Squeak*
“Cripes.” Lydia stepped on a toy.

*Yauwn* Glameow awoke. She stood and looked around. Master had left, but the chair was still warm. The cat leapt down gracefully onto the floor.

*Squeak*

Glameow perked her ears towards the sound. It came from the living room. She stealthily padded her way to the doorway. There was an intruder! A girl sneaking around with a bag on her back and a dagger on her waist.

“Oh well,” the cat pokemon thought. “Master probably already knows. She will get to find out what will happen if she is caught for herself.” Glameow turned around and slunk back to the chair.

*Zapp*

Lydia jumped back in surprise. A man appeared in front of her out of nowhere.
“I see you found your way into my humble home,” he said in a gentle voice. “What is it you seek?” Percy didn’t usually talk like this, he read this in a book. It had just been a long time since he had seen someone who wasn’t a pokemon.
“Umm, I’m just a humble girl looking for enough food to get by, and I happened to find my way here.”

Percy knew her true intentions. “You’re here to rob me aren’t you, Lydia?”

“How did you know my name?!” she yelped.

“Magic.”

“Don’t try to be cheeky with a guest, you sack of poop!”

Percy was taken aback by this remark. “Oh well. That was expected from a girl like you. I sensed your true nature the moment you stepped into my yard. Anyways, my name is Percy, I work with magic. Spells and that kind of stuff.”

“Why would I care?”

“Well, you look like you’ve had it rough the past couple days. What happened?”

“My parents tried to sell me off to camp. So I ran away- wait, why am I telling you this? It’s none of your business!”

“Well, as an adult I guess it’s my duty to make sure you are safe. I will house you here until I can get ahold of your parents. Just tell me where they live and-”

“Screw you, I’m fine on my own!” Lydia screeched.
“Well if you’re going to act like a snake, you might as well be one.” Percy sighed.

“Wait what?”

“Herba Serpens Mutatio!”

Lydia’s skin turned a dark green. A gold ring formed around the sides and back of her neck. A lighter shade of green appeared, starting at her chin, and flowing down her chest while the dark green spread everywhere else. Her brown hair fell out in clumps, while all she could do was watch in horror.

Then, she felt her spine and other bones start to shorten, and she began shrinking in size. Within seconds, Lydia had shrunk to a foot and a half. Her tailbone began to grow out a ways, and a large, three-pointed leaf formed on the end.

The gold ring  lengthened into a collar, thin and stretching to cover the back of her neck. A gold stripe followed along the back of her new tail, and connected to the collar.
Her ears were filled with a grinding noise as her skull reformed and her nose and mouth pushed outwards into a long snout. Her ears shrank into her head, and all that was left were tiny holes. Lydia’s eyes became an amber color, and gold stripes rose from around her collar, circling her eyes.

Her arms shrank and her fingers molded and flattened into three thin, but sharp claws. Her legs and feet melted together, into thin stumpy legs.

“What the frick frack snick snack did you do to me?” She screamed at Percy.

“I simply turned you into a Pokemon. A snivy to be exact,” he replied with a grin. “I was wanting to try out that spell for a while.”

“TURN ME BACK! I don’t want to be a filthy creature like them!”

“Nah, you’re going to be that way for a while, since you clearly deserve it. You need to learn to be caring to people. Maybe then you’ll actually have friends.”

“Now then, Glameow will show you around, and where you will be sleeping.” Lydia turned around to see a cat with a smug expression on it’s face.

“What are YOU looking at, punk?” Lydia snarled. The cat crouched down and picked her up gently and began to carry her off into the next room, with Lydia struggling all the way.

Percy sighed. “She probably won’t learn. Or at least not for a while.”
